Tips for Finding Your Car in a Crowded Parking Lot

How many times have you parked your car in a parking lot and have forgotten where it was? You walk around and around trying to find it and you’re mind goes blank on where you parked. This happens to more people than you think, about 1 in 7 drivers have admitted to losing their cars in parking lots. How can you resolve this problem? Here are some tips on how to better find  where you parked.

Take a video. This might sound silly but you can find your way back if you record the entire trip out of the parking lot, or down the street, to your destination. To not make it obvious of what you’re doing, you can film with your smartphone behind you so that you see the exact path you took.

Pin your location (when possible). This might be tricky with indoor parking lots but if you are parked anywhere outside, you can “drop a pin” of your current location to help you navigate back to your car later.

Make your car noticeable. It is hard to find your car in a lot filled with other cars. Make your car stand out by having a flag stick out on it or tie a bandana around your car’s radio antennae. The more visual the better!

Park near light poles or landmarks. Be deliberate about where you park by choosing a spot next to a light pole or landmark for reference later on. You have a better chance of remembering where you parked this way, even if it is a further walk it will be worth it in the end.

Utilize your technology. Install a T3 and you will be able to find the location of your car with a click of the button.

Being conscious of where you park in a parking lot helps you easily find you car later on, but sometimes we’re in a rush and just park anywhere unknowingly. The above tips should help you better find your car from now on!
