School is officially back in session making your morning commute a little more congested. To ensure safety for you, your young ones, and new student drivers, it is important to be reminded about driving safety.
According to NHTSA “The greatest risk to a child isn’t riding a bus, but approaching or leaving one.” NHTSA offers some tips to remind young drivers how to remain safe this school year. These tips include:
- The car shouldn’t move until everyone is buckled up.
- Follow the speed limit.
- Stay focused.
- Remember that the phone stays down when you’re driving. Make it a habit to put your phone in the glove compartment or other inaccessible location, to reduce temptation to check notifications or texts.
- Reduce distraction by limiting the number of additional passengers. If you do have others in the car with you, keep your eyes and your mind on the road.
Another great way to ensure your teen is safe is to install the T3 Vehicle Security System. The T3 gives you the capability to check the location of your vehicle at anytime and receive alerts if your car has an emergency or unauthorized movement.
